The aftermath of hurricane Katrina provided an opportunity for some to rail against the mistreatment of poor and minorities in the United States. It's always implied that liberal European countries like France do a much better job.
For this reason, the French riots are so enjoyable. Maybe the French politicians should come to the United States to learn the proper ways to treat its poor and minorities.
You mean, as in how to make them think that they have rights, a good job, an education? How to make them believe the myth?
I will continue to listen to the direct reports from NZers. Like the tv team that was in Texas after Katrina. One of the locals tried to run over a technician - chased him across the road with his RV - while the camera was running. The tech happened to be Maori - sufficiently coloured for the driver to yell "Get ya next time n****r". Isolated case? Not according to the reporting team.
The tape? Was offered to the local police - "they had too much to handle" which might well have been true. The three second clip was shown on tv here.
So, if that is the model that you are offering the French, the world is in terrible shape indeed. Hey, NZ isn't perfect either. We do our best as well...
