A huge victory has been won in the war against Islamic terrorism. Muslims around the world, normally angry at Israel and the U.S., are now focusing on Denmark and other EU countries, especially their newspapers. Why? Because of some funny pictures of the prophet Mohammed published in a Danish newspaper. (See Retuers story.)
Yes, this is the dumbest thing that the Islamic world has done. Until now, the left wing newspapers of Europe were on their side. If only the West was more understanding of the Islamic world there wouldn't be all this terrorism, so they said. But now European journalists have learned that Islam, as practiced in most of the world, is incompatible with Western ideals of free speech. They've even been heard shouting "Death to France" in Gaza because a French newspaper republished the cartoons to show solidarity with the Danes--any goodwill the French bought by opposing the U.S. is gone.
Americans should go out of their way to buy Danish products to show solidarity with Denmark whose goods are being boycotted in Islamic countries. I hear they make really good cheese. Buy Ecco shoes, they're from Denmark and they're really comfortable.
I believe that most of the newspapers publishing these cartoons are actually conservative newspapers, not liberal papers at all. They are doing this deliberately to show Europeans how Islam is dominated by very radical elements. The Islamic world is falling right into the trap set by these conservative newspapers.
On the other hand this kind of Islamic baiting will tend to sideline moderates in both Europe and the Islamic world, which of course is all part of OBL's master plan to create a war of civilizations between the Islamic and Western world.
