Andrew Sullivan on race and IQ

A reader pointed out to me that Andrew Sullivan posted again about race and IQ. His point is very similar to the point I made yesterday. We need to talk about race and IQ because it explains why there are unequal educational outcomes. And unequal educational outcomes is a topic liberals won't stop whining about.

As Tonto used to put it, who's this "we," white man? I suspect that here again is a case of the democratic we. Ie, by "we," Ezra means, of course, the State.

Which certainly has a fair bit to do with "aggregate groups..."

The FACT is that IQ diferrences have nothing to do with race.

Black West African immigrants have a higher standard of living and probably a higher IQ than White Americans. Descendants of African slaves don't have a higher IQ than White Americans. Why do these people always compare a formerly oppressed group to the opressor? Why not compare African "immigrants" to European immigrants? Instead, they compare black descendants of slaves to the people who oppressed them for centuries. This doesn't make sense.

Asians / Indians ( many have blacker skin than blacks) have a higher standard of living and higher IQ than whites but what about sampling the Indian or Pakistani population? Would the Indians that still live in Asia have a higher IQ than Indian Americans or whites or blacks?

White Irish protestants in Northern Ireland have a 30% higher IQ than white catholics? How? I mean they are all white. But wait, it can't be because one group was oppressed by the other group b/c that has very little to do with IQ diferrences. Right?

I just wish the white supremists would look at ALL of the variables instead of trying to rationlize their racist views.

Some white groups have higher IQ's than others, even close neighbours, but the gap you mention is very unlikely,not to say impossible.

I want to believe this is true but from my own personal experience I don't think it is. The majority Middle class Blacks still defend hip-hop to the end, I include Common and Mos Def as negative culture. Its unbelievable the things my relatives let their children listen to/watch, than want to complain when they start emulating the behavior. My family is thought of as being overly strict and bordering on obessed with making sure our kids are not influenced by this culture.

There are blacks who see the music as the destructive influence it is but sadly they are in the minority of middle class Blacks.
