There are a whole bunch of photos of the Palins on Meghan McCain’s blog. What stands out is that, in nearly all the photos, Bristol is holding the baby. And is it just my imagination, or does she look at the baby with the love of a mother? In the photo where Willow is holding the baby, Willow doesn’t seem to enjoy it as much.
If not Bristol, then who should be holding the baby? The obvious person to be responsible for the baby is Todd, who is supposed to be the baby’s father. But we don’t see a single photo of the father holding the baby.
UPDATE
Andrew Sullivan goes with this story and has a picture of Bristol holding the baby. Sullivan says, “the noise around this story is now deafening. So please give us these answers - and provide medical records for Sarah Palin's pregnancy - and put this to rest.”
r = 0.5 for siblings and offspring. Ergo, Bristol's genetic interest in the baby is the same if the baby is her child or her sibling.

Half Sigma,
You're not doing much this weekend, are you? You should go and and have a few beers or something. This fixation with the Palin's baby is making Peter's obsession with team sports/the NFL look normal.
Posted by: Happy Hour | August 31, 2008 at 05:00 PM
Man, you guys are going full retard on this. No Oscars for you.
Posted by: johnmark7j | August 31, 2008 at 05:03 PM
Hmmm, is the next allegation going to be that Todd was the father of both his daughter's and his wife's baby?

"This fixation with the Palin's baby is making Peter's obsession with team sports/the NFL look normal."
Next thing you know, it'll start making my obsession with women's, er, grooming practices look normal.

On an earlier thread Spungen wondered how tall Sarah Palin was. From the pictures on Meghan McCain's blog it looks as if Palin is about the same height as John McCain, maybe an inch or so shorter. John McCain is 5'7", so Sarah Palin is 5'6" or 5'7".

"And is it just my imagination, or does she look at the baby with the love of a mother?"
(choke, wheeze, snicker) Dude. You know you are the *last* person able to judge that, right?
You've probably written more about babies in the past two days than in the entire history of your blogging.
Posted by: Spungen | August 31, 2008 at 05:21 PM
Peter, McCain's only 5'7"? Wouldn't that make him one of the shortest presidents ever?
Posted by: Spungen | August 31, 2008 at 05:24 PM
I've got it. Palin was in bed with Conoco, Philips and BP, which is how the baby comes to have trisomy-21.
Run with this one, Half Sigma, you will be hailed as a genius.
Posted by: anonYeMustBe | August 31, 2008 at 05:36 PM
This is embarrassing for you. Full retard is right; its like you have no idea how actual people react around babies.
Todd is holding the baby in picture #7.
Someone name "Laurye" is holding the kid in two pictures- does that make her the mother?

"Next thing you know, it'll start making my obsession with women's, er, grooming practices look normal."
The way this is going, it won't be too long. You should go out for a few beers yourself.

Everyone, including Gov. Palin, is holding the baby.
In fact in several shots the mother is revealed to be Piper!
[At least tell us you are perpetuating this nonsense on your fake Kos diary]

"Peter, McCain's only 5'7"? Wouldn't that make him one of the shortest presidents ever?"
In modern times, at least.
McCain's shortness flies in the face of the conventional blogosphere wisdom that tall men get all the hott chix. His first wife was a fashion model, and at the time of their marriage McCain was a young Naval officer, not a celebrity by any means.

"Sarah Palin Alien Baby" is working its way up there ...
Someone in this thread has already introduced the idea.

Quite frankly HS, I think you've embarrassed yourself with this one. The very idea that a public figure like this could fake a pregnancy while the pregnancy of her teenage daughter was completely covered up is really just ridiculous. Where did Bristol have this baby? In a dark alley? Has an entire maternity ward been paid off and silenced? Maybe they just got some towels and hot water and did it themselves?

After combing through those photos on that stupid blogette site, it reminded me how lucky I am to be a complete nobody with not much family around and maybe 2 friends who are in same boat as me.
How do people stay motivated to do this sort of shit?
Thank god I'm average.

Palin pleaded no contest in 1993. Apparently, she was using a gill net to fish salmon, and hadn't properly registered her permit. She took over a fishing boat from her sister, but forgot to transfer the registration...

It's hardly uncommon for grandmothers to raise their young unmarried daughter's babies as their own, while telling the kid that his actual mother is his aunt -- see the life stories of Jack Nicholson and Bobby Darrin. Something similar was true for Thomas Sowell.
If true, I can't see women voters turning en masse against Palin. I would imagine it would increase their fascination with and sympathy for her.
Posted by: Steve Sailer | August 31, 2008 at 08:00 PM
I hope this is all true. If it isn't, then I think Gawker and Half Sigma are going to lose a lot of credibility for running with this one.
Posted by: tommy | August 31, 2008 at 08:12 PM
Enough with the stupid speculation. McCain has zero chance of winning and Palin will have zero effect on those prospects.
Why not speculate how badly Palin is going to hurt Republicans running for the Senate and whether the Democratic Party will have 60 seats in the Senate this January.
The real selection of Palin shows how little talent is left in the Republican Party. That McCain did not consider anyone who had more than a couple years of experience demonstrates how badly Bush has affect Republicans. Anyone associates with the Bush Administration or with Congressional Republicans has no future career in politics. Thus the Republicans have left chasing unknowns with little experience.
The real question everyone should be thinking about is what happens when the Repubilcans complete their collapse and the U.S. is left with one relevant political party? At least then, the convention and the general elections could be ignored by the media.

tommy - "I hope this is all true. If it isn't, then I think Gawker and Half Sigma are going to lose a lot of credibility for running with this one."
I think HS has already taken the "hit" - and for what? No criticism he can offer is ever going to get Mitt Romney on the ticket. Hey, I was a Romney supporter myself, but he wasn't going to enhance McCain's candidacy the way a real conservative could. McCain stood little chance of winning against either Obama or Hillary; he just doesn't "spark" any enthusiasm. What he was getting were primarily anti-Obama votes and hard-core, Republican only voters.
Taking the gamble on Palin has given him a chance at winning by finally giving the conservative base of the GOP someone on the ticket that they CAN be enthusiastic about. Now, GOP precinct workers can actually hope to convince the rank-and-file to turnout to vote for their ticket.
I'm at a loss as to why HS cannot seem to figure this out.
If nothing else, he should take note of the angry and desperate reactions coming from the left, and realize that what makes them unhappy most likely works in his favor. If Palin was such a bad pick, the Democrats and their puppet media would be rejoicing - not screaming foul.

"So please give us these answers - and provide medical records for Sarah Palin's pregnancy - and put this to rest.” "
I dont think so. She should wait until the smears (fight the smears!) become full blown and then expose them. They will get a nice pop of positive publicity off this like with Rathergate. And hopefully the press is defanged for the rest of the election.
I am still waiting for the press (or even conservative blogs) to investigate the paternity of Biden's children.

Turamber - "I am still waiting for the press (or even conservative blogs) to investigate the paternity of Biden's children."
Why? Do you think that there is something "interesting" to be found out?
I'm not trying to be a smart a$$ here, it's just that I've never heard and suggestion that Biden's children may not be his.
Posted by: slwerner | August 31, 2008 at 09:07 PM
I agree with Sailer. I just don't see how this story hurts her that much even if it's true. It just makes her look like a selfless mom doing everything to protect her family.

"I'm not trying to be a smart a$$ here, it's just that I've never heard and suggestion that Biden's children may not be his."
You do realize the standard here is 1 + 1 =3.All you need it two factoids an you make up your own interesting conclusion.
Bidens son Beau isnt bald + he was away in law school most of the time and couldnt be the father = Biden found out his wife was cheating and killed her.
I call on the press to follow up and make sure Biden is properly vetted. We cant have a murderer a heart beat away from the presidency.

Ha ha ha ha ha, don't you feel dumb now? You really should have gone and had a beer this weekend! Quit wasting everyone's time. The only reason that you sat around speculating about Palin is that you fear her. She is everything liberals hate. An intelligent, classy, good-looking, God-loving, gun-toting, married, monogamous, hockey-mom from a middle-class background. She's ME, (only more ambitious)! I am loving this, surely are millions of other gals like me are as well. Be very afraid. Palin's here, and she's about to rock your liberal world.

"Full retard" is right! Fact is, this desperation shows just how scared the Dems and other libs REALLY ARE!! The look on Bristol's face toward her BROTHER {and so big damned deal if he isn't. That still would speak miles for the love, courage and compassion of Sarah Palin. After all, if this is a lie and she had only come up with it to run for Vice President is it really plausible that one of you liberal twits (who would rather kill an inconvenient or Down's Syndrome baby) wouldn't have come forward (about the only thing about which you would have had the COURAGE to come forward!-not anything LIKE a JOHN McCAIN) and dragged this probably nice, though maybe mixed up (who isn't at seventeen-and sure as hell will be after THIS) young girl in front of the entire world (as has been done anyway)} showed me what a FINE MOTHER she will probably make. Also, the fact that she has a man in her life (standing with her like this, I WON'T call him a BOY-he isn't) who's willing to go through this with her shows me what GOOD TASTE she has. Just shows how uncomfortable you "people" get around a family with REAL VALUES and people with intestinal fortitude such as Sarah Palin..AND her political benefactor, JOHN McCAIN.
