Bogus NY Post article on Annie Le case

The NY Post reported that Raymond Clark "broke the bones and mangled the body of a strangled Yale grad student to fit it through a wall."

But the Chief of the New Haven police says "this information is false." See NBC Connecticut article.

Don't believe everything you read in the NY Post.

A commenter was recently writing about how evil Clark is because of the way he handled Le's corpse. But (1) the report about how he "mangled" the corpse was false; and (2) he's used to handling dead animal bodies [such as chimpanzees which are human-like and weigh over 100 lbs] as part of his job as a janitor/technician in an animal research facility, so a dead body isn't as shocking to him as it is to most people.

Breaking bones to crumple up a human body would be very difficult and time-consuming, and if the purpose is to conceal the crime, it would create an unbelievable mess.

On the other hand, he did have some sort of bloody mess to clean up that wouldn't occur from strangulation alone. And earlier leaks said the body was taken apart.

He probably doesn't. Not too many large primates are used in medical research any longer, and those that are used are handled in specialized facilities by specially trained workers.

It may be that the lab in the building Clark worked in only housed mice and rats. Before Yale took down the "Yale Animal Resource Center" Internet site I remember reading that animals are kept in a number of different buildings, and I think the building Clark worked in may only have housed rodents.

The blood that Clark was cleaning up may have been his own blood if Annie got some good scratches in before she died. What a horrible, sad story. If Clark hated his job and was enraged at being talked down to by Annie, why didn't he just say "Fuck this shit", walk out and slam the door. Maybe he could have got meds for his OCD (if that is what he had), and he could have got a student loan and gone back to school to get a biology degree, maybe starting at a community college then transfering to a state university. He could have been a high school biology teacher maybe, and kept rats and mice in his school lab, and taught kids about them. And Annie would be married now and everyone would be happy.

It's strange to think that the manner in which Ray treated the corpse would factor in to an assessment of his evilness. There is almost nothing more "evil" than a strangulation murder, so he was already off the chart by the time it came to the disposal phase of this incident.

That said, it sounds as though the body was crammed in to an exceedingly small space, which may have required it to be harshly folded and contorted. Considering the speed with which Ray was surely moving, and the amount of adrenaline pumping through his bloodstream, it wouldn't surprise me if the spine needed to be broken, perhaps in several places, and the the pelvic joints dislocated to make the body more pliable.

The police have become sensitive to all the leaks in this case and are probably trying to quash any rumors that they think the defense might end up using as indictments against the investigation.

The human body folds into 2 halves at the waist. The lower half (legs) can fold into 2 halves at the knees. The upper half (torso) can be folded into 2 halves once the spine is snapped. A sharp blow to the spine right in the middle of the back is sufficient. The body then neatly folds into 4 parts, with the head dangling on one end.

Annie Le was 4'11", so if we assume that her head was about 11 inches long, then her body from the neck down nicely folds into 4 parts of 1 foot each. The width or depth of her body is probably around 6 inches, so her body would fold into a neat stack about 2 feet high, not counting the head. The dimensions of the stack would be 2 feet in height, 1 foot in length, and about 1 foot wide. So the volume is quite small at around 2 feet, not counting the head of course. Severing the head would make handling, managing, and disposing even more tractable.

If you ever knew (or lived with and/or had relatives, like me) any members of law enforcement, you know how some innacurate details get into the media like this:

Cops amusing themselves. Reporterettes and reporters ask not only the cops at the scene, who usually dutifully tell them, "no comment" about what happened, but also contact "sources" in the police department and also ask other patrol officers "what they have heard". If the cop wants to amuse himself (and hates the paper the reporter is representing), he can "confidentially" tell her/him that he heard X or Y, when in reality he heard no such thing.

Therefore he gets to make an ass out of an annoying reporter whom gets on his nerves, or writes for a paper he doesn't like all in good fun. The guys joke about it on card/stripper/ball-game/softball night.

I shared a townhouse with a cop for 5 years in my twenties, and had a grandfather who was a cop, and believe me............they have a sense of humor.

Clark may have a lot of resentment upon an obviously street-smart/manipulative-type Le was she was NOT that genius and a dedicated grad student as the media painted her and she could have a "razor" tongue as a lot of asian women do (the newly emigrated ones).
She got in Rochester University then Yale enjoyed a free goverment ride due to coming from Vietnam myself, she got financial aid (low-income/working forcash...). She obviously flaunting her cuteness/wit and fake chests to get where she was. I am a Vietamese also so I know. Those girls won't date asian guys and planning to marry rich (the skinny family-rich Jewish boy). It's sad but it always takes 2 to tango (Clark & Le). Clark must know it too so he had no respect for her.
I feel sad for Clark now since he will face with life in prison or worse. This is a lose-lose situation for both.

Me too. But Rain And's initial theory, if I recall, featured an escalating situation, words to contact to blows to strangulation to concealment. So the answer is simple: at some point she fought back.
