A blog post at Bishop Hill has a pretty good listing of the contents of specific ClimateGate emails that are especially damning to the climate change community.
These emails demonstrate what I have been saying all along, that climate change is a religion and not a science. The goal of these so-called scientists is not to dispassionately discover the truth whatever the truth may be. These scientists already know the Truth of global warming, their goal is to convert the world over to their Belief.
It’s a religion, and definitely not a hoax. In a hoax, the perpetrators of the hoax know that they are trying to convince people of something false. These guys believe in global warming, but unfortunately their belief isn’t based on scientific research. Their belief is like the belief of Christians that God created humans.
Within the religion of climate change, the ClimteGate emails do demonstrate that there is a conspiracy to hide data that “skeptics” could use to make “false” arguments and to deny “skeptics” a voice in scientific journals and other forums of public debate.
Unfortunately, I think that ClimateGate will blow over the way the James Watson gaffe blew over. The bad guys control the MSM. Those who control the media control how people think.
This seems entirely dissimilar to the James Watson event. A parallel event would be Jensen or Murray leaking emails about "hiding the growth of black acheivement" or ousting blank slatists from positions. We're sure that that would be all over the media.
This seems very underreported in the US News. Even Fox's article is really weak. Are they afraid that the emails will turn out to be forged, making them the permanent "right wing loonies" that the other reporters will perpetually mock?
Is the CRU employing some kind of legal injunction to stop US News sources from quoting the actual emails? If the emails can't be quoted, people will just disregard the news by claiming that the statements were taken out of context.

Of course I agree with you that these so-called scientists have absolutely no interest in following the facts wherever they may lead.
"Unfortunately, I think that ClimateGate will blow over the way the James Watson gaffe blew over. The bad guys control the MSM"
I think this is true to an extent, but eventually the global warming scare will fizzle out simply because sooner or later it will be undeniable that temperatures are not cooperating with the IPCC forecasts.
Moreover, I think the latest revelations did a lot of damage to the warmist cause. Journal editors will be more willing to publish articles from a skeptical point of view and it will become harder for the IPCC to ignore such publications.
JMHO.

Precisely. I sure wish some well-heeled group of conservatives would buy a broadcast network, and start a newspaper chain in a couple of dozen major cities and begin to erect an "alternative" mainstream media to compete with the current MSM. I think people would actually like to see the truth presented in cogent terms.
It would also be fun to see a new MSM outlet do financially well as to prove that the old MSM should not be subsidized or supported by tax dollars and Dan Rather is in want of.

BTW, in terms of whether global warming is a "hoax," I have looked a lot at the e-mails and my impression is that these jokers seem to care a lot more about protecting their funding than protecting the polar bears.
Moreover, in general they don't seem to be worried about buying land on high ground to protect themselves and their families. As far as I know, they are not investing their money in frozen land in the Canadian wilderness.
Instead, they spend their time (and other peoples' money) jetting around to various locales. Just search the e-mails for words like "tahiti" and "france."
So I would say that they believe on one level; but on another level they do not believe.
If global warming is a religion, then these guys are like the ministers who preach fire and brimstone on Sunday morning while visiting prostitutes on Saturday night.
JMHO.
[HS: They believe that, when it comes to spreading the Truth and converting the unbelievers, the end justifies the means, and that they are entitled to live above other men as a just reward for their role in spreading the Holy word. This applies to both the global warming "scientists" as well as the Christian evangelist preachers.]

No one should be allowed to comment on this thread unless they read the Bishop Hill. It's stunning the level of arrogance and deceit that went on at CRU.
HS's claim that these people excuse their own behavior in the name of religion is the most like explanation.

More like ACORN.
Remember that the MSM is dying by a thousand internet cuts.
