If he had just said “yes, I enjoy having cybersex with women I meet online” instead of insisting that his account was hacked and anything anyone else says is just right-wing lies, would he have been better off?

No, I never bought the idea that a guy just has to come clean quickly. It would have seemed cavalier & decadent, and the media and the R's would spend weeks tut-tutting over it. That said, it may not have mattered in Weiner's district.

Who knows? It would make more sense that what is happening to him now. Perhaps he and the wife used the cybersex to make their own sex hotter.

Considering that Barnie Frank admitted to seeing male prostitutes, yes.
BTW what is it with Jewish guys?
Spitzer, Kahn, Weiner, Frank?
I thoug IQ was inversely correlated with sexual appetite in men at least? Althoug I've heard that smart women tend to have high T.

Yes, I think he would have. Barney Frank came out of the closet and it didn't hurt him. Why shouldn't Weiner do the same?

Better question-
What if Weiner had engineered the whole hack himself using that backdoor yfrog method?
He could have let the thing build up over the week giving his dopey interviews and then the reveal would be that the picture came from a throw away account at a DC public hotspot.
The guy would have been a martyr and catapulted to the first tier of prominence.
Apparently Weiner inst that smart, but I wouldn't be surprised to see someone try it in the next 5 years.

Most people rightly regard cyber as creepy and despicable, suitable only for omegas who can't get a real woman and for lowlifes like Scott Ritter.
People might respect an actual physical adulterer, who at least has some courage and put real notches on his belt. A "virtual" adulterer, however, is the worst of both worlds -- he is tainted with immorality and yet scorned because he never really scored. It's hard to imagine voting for such a creature.

In the long run, no. More women would have come forward and he'd find himself in the same hot water he finds himself now. However, he might have avoided that train wreck of a press conference.

"Apparently Weiner inst that smart,"
Wiki says,
"Weiner took the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT), and entered Brooklyn Technical High School. He says he had missed admission to Stuyvesant High School by one point. After graduating from Brooklyn Tech in 1981, he attended the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, where he played hockey."
Why would a guy smart enough to go to Brooklyn Tech wind up going to a mediocre state school?

I always hoped that Tiger Woods would had just been like, "so I like having sex with a variety of white girls, what are you angry feminists and manginas going to do about it?" Instead of being all apologetic.

Being outed was his problem. As he shot himself in the foot, he was screwed either way. Since he was eventually going to be found out, it would have been better for him to cop to it. Far, far better than claiming the twitter page of a federal legislator was hacked, which is a serious crime.

Getting an athletic scholarship to college can override other considerations when a young man is deciding on a college.

""Weiner took the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT), and entered Brooklyn Technical High School. He says he had missed admission to Stuyvesant High School by one point."
This statement is a lie.
More than one point separates Stuyvesant from Brooklyn Tech. At his age the admissions were Stuyvesant slightly above Bronx Science far above Brooklyn Tech.
If you're white or Asian and live in NYC you can get into Bk Tech.

I wonder if him failing the admission test explains all the trouble he's got himself into. Perhaps his iq is simply not that high, thus all these dumb mistakes

Missing admission to Stuyvesant High School by one point doesn't exactly make you a stupid, violent prole.
[HS: Given that Weiner is known liar, I suspect he's lying about missing Stuy by just one point.]
