According to this NY Times article, the idea of a Chris Christie run for president is not dead yet.
I’ve change my mind on this. I used to be a fan, but now that the Republican party is coalescing around Romney, he’s our best chance to get rid of Obama. Christie would bring division to the party that’s not needed right now.
Also, Romney has been saying the right things about immigration, while Christie may be more like Bush and Perry on that issue.
He's too fat. Just because many voters are fat themselves doesn't mean they will vote for a fat candidate.

What are your contentions with Obama?

Here's one thing I don't like about Christie:
TRENTON — The New Jersey Transit employee fired for burning pages of the Quran at the site of a proposed Islamic center near Ground Zero will get his job back, according to a settlement obtained by The Star-Ledger.
Derek Fenton, who sparked a national firestorm and condemnation from Gov. Chris Christie during his protest on the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks, will be reassigned to his $86,110-a-year job and get $25,000 for pain and suffering. The settlement, dated today, also says he will get back pay equal to $331.20 for every day since his firing.
The state will also pay $25,000 in legal fees to the American Civil Liberties Union, which brought the suit on behalf of Fenton, 40, of Bloomingdale.
"Our government cannot pick and choose whose free speech rights are protected, based on whether or not they approve of the content of our statements or actions," Fenton said in a statement. "This is the very essence of the First Amendment."

....
Christie is always whining about the poor taxpayers of New Jersey, yet he squandered thousands of their dollars in this pointless bit of demagoguery. The worker burned a copy of the Koran in public on his own time. The Supreme Court has ruled that burning Korans, Bibles, flags or just about anything else is protected free speech. Christie is a lawyer, a former federal prosecutor, and he knows this. But in spite of his oath to support the US and New Jersey constitutions, he just couldn't resist this tawdry bit of demagoguery.
Anyway, Romney is OK. I'll vote for anybody running against Obama.

And Christie is a big fan of AGW.....not good.

Christie should use the next 4-5 years to do some HCG dieting and slim down.
He would make a fine candidate in a few years. Not yet though.

Chris Christie claims to be a man of the people yet he sends his children to some elite private school. When asked about his hypocrisy he arrogantly responds by saying "none of your business".
[HS: Christie is smart to send his children to private school. That he cares about his children's education makes me look at him more favorably.]

Chris Christie should endorse Romney, and Romney should pick Christie as his running mate. Christie would be perfect in the attack dog VP candidate role.

Yeah it comes down to Romney, probably. I don't hate fat guys, either, but Christie is just all wrong on most things.
Maybe it's a good thing Romney didn't stick around too long in Mass as governor, or he'd be just as compromised by Eastern politics as Perry/Bush are by Texas politics.

Well, I know as of now Romney is coming off as fairly anti-immigration, but this is still the primaries. Lots of things get said during the primaries. When it comes to the general election, the Republican Party infrastructure (weakened as it is by the Tea Party) may pressure him into moderating even further because there is pressure to beat Obama, and people may be cautious about alienating Hispanic voters (now and, more importantly, in the future, when their numbers are even greater).
