From the back, the effigy bears more resemblance to the First Lady.

During the parade, the Muslims were chanting,

Hey hey mama say the way you move,
Gonna make you sweat, gonna make you groove.
Ah-ah child way you shake that thing,
Gonna make you burn, gonna make you sting.

This is off-topic but I feel it's important to get your opinion on this after seeing the recent debate. Several commentators and even Santorum have said that both Paul and Romney are working together at some level. This is apparent from their actions in the debates and campaign, where Paul has never really gone after Romney or attacked him like he did at the other two candidates. Many people have said that Paul is doing the dirt work by going after Santorum and Gingrich while Romney picks up the pieces. The rumors are that Romney agreed to have Paul as his VP, or even his son Rand Paul. Another possibility is that they are both personal friends, or have admiration for each other enough to warrant Romney to promise Paul a spot in his cabinet.

You support Romney for president, but how would you feel if he brought Paul along to the WH? This could be why some prominent Republicans got into the Santorum bandwagon even though Romney seems much better than him.

It's probably Axelrod & Co. This just makes Obama more popular here....

I think most of that anger in Afghanistan from burning the Koran is just pent up anger that Americans are there. Have you noticed that Muslims appear to be uniquely privileged to be angry if anyone does anything allegedly blasphemous, but if the same thing is done to Christians, then their anger is totally illegitimate. Is this because most Muslims aren't white, and it's always ok to be angry at white guys?

Racism = race + power. The Afghan people are amongst the poorest, least educated, and most illiterate people on earth. Therefore, they can't be racist.

Benighted hillbillies with a yearning for 12 year old boys, yeah, but racists? I think this is a bit much.

So much for brotherhood among Muslims! Wait, Obama isn't even a Muslim contrary to baseless rumors that were stated by fundies. Extremist Muslims will always burn effigies of our presidents; it's customary as they are our representatives in international affairs.

Also, any book that calls for the unjust execution of gays, "witches", advocates oppression for members of the outgroup (such as a Jizya tax on Jews and Christians, and outright murdering people who aren't even of "the book"), oppression of women, and condones slavery deserves to be desecrated. Given that the protestors are products of their particular place it is understandable that they would protest the actions of a few (soldiers?) desecrating Korans. However, Afghanistan is allied with the U.S. and such protests may adversely affect popular perceptions of Afghanistan. Anti-U.S., rhetoric comes from Taliban sympathizers over there, though we are at fault for their negative perceptions of us. Turning away women and children whose houses have been destroyed (after saying we'd help them), not to mention destroying said houses, would do that.

Who gives a shit?

I don't know what you gain in pointing out that backward, illiterate, hyper-religious people from earth's asshole are, SHOCKINGLY, also bigots, other than to try to distract from your having stupidly defended an unaccountable woman's call for the eradication of black people as "satire" and then fearfully shuddered that the predictable reaction to her was proof that liberal political correctness has reached "Orewellian" heights.

The only interesting thing about this is that the fundie Muslims are just now catching up their religious redneck counterparts in the US who've been screaming that Obama's the antichrist for years.

Whatever cognitive talents and gifts you have, Half Sigma, they're seriously hampered by your persistent devolution into cartoonish oversimplification and your eternally chipped shoulder.

If this is your idea of successful HBD promotion, god help you.

My concern over incoming fire (much less office buildings having planes flown into them) from religious rednecks in the US is pretty low.

"Whatever cognitive talents and gifts you have, Half Sigma, they're seriously hampered by your persistent devolution into cartoonish oversimplification and your eternally chipped shoulder."

Amazing complexity here:

Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. "O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him."

762, Boulder,

I wasn't referencing these specific Muslims or Islam in general when I critiqued Half Sigma. The cartoonish oversimplification he's guilty of goes beyond his poor grasp of Islamic extremism and extends into American politics and religion as well.

I'm not defending Islam, either. It's a backward and violent relic of 7th century Arabia and deserves no place of importance in modern secular societies.

Half Sigma's (stupid) point was to show that Muslims can be bigots too, as if this possibility was heretofore unknown to liberals.

There's a reason why liberals don't focus on the bigotries of backward and primitive tribal peoples -- they have low expectations of them, for good reason.

Like it or not, a higher expectation is put on people like Half Sigma not to cosign the vile racial rantings of a lunatic with a twitter account.

TANGENTIAL TO TOPIC:

A Muslim judge in Pennsylvania dismisses assault charges against a Muslim who attacked an atheist demonstrator mocking Muhammed. The judge's explanation is essentially, that that's how Muslim culture works:

We should dispatch Eric Holder and Al Sharpton to Kabul posthaste.

They will certainly be able to chastise the Afghan people into condemning this blatant act of racism.

"Allah's Apostle said, 'The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. 'O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him.'"

I thought Jews and Christians were off limits as people of the book? Yes, they were to hold inferior positions in society as second class citizens in Muslim countries, and killed in officially sanctioned acts of war, but that verse seems, well, contradictory of the respect people of the book claim.
