Is this a serious post? Are you trying to get a real writing gig or something?

Why change blogs? Why start over and lik your new blog?

Too bad.

It is good that you are quitting HBD blogging. I think that blogging about HBD gets very depressing, and there are better things for you to do with your time than to rail endlessly about HBD.

Several years ago I thought that maybe HBD would go mainstream, but I am now certain that HBD movement is a dead end...at least for the foreseeable future in this country. HBD bloggers have to come to terms with this fact or they will always be depressed.

I always enjoyed your blog. Best of luck in your future endeavors.

Is this for real? I was afraid this day would come and warned others. Well that dreaded day Half Sigma quits has arrived. I was right and it appears one more "alt-righter" bites the dust.

We failed. If we can't even handle pressure online how are we gonna make inroads irl? Blogging is dead. Firepower was right.

I think this is a good move. HBD has gotten stale. Not that there aren't good points, it is just that they have all been made.

Is it a new blog due to the advantages of a different platform?

Did you get outed at work or something?

Yikes! Did you get death threats or something? I hope not. You will be missed-- and if you change your mind I will not mock you.

Nothing he writes will ever be taken seriously, ever, by anyone who matters if he is also writing "racist" things. Half is a smart guy and has a lot of good ideas, it makes sense to become more "acceptable". I think "spreading the truth of HBD" is old hat anyway. Everybody knows it, they just are afraid to talk about it. So, what's the point?

Inquiring minds want to know why!

Did some social network software automatically link your blog and work e-mail?

I'm genuinely saddened by this. Your blog and InMalaFide were my favorites. Both are dead now. Your new blog rules and format look like crap now as well. I'm aware you've undergone blog reincarnation in the past but you'll never be as popular again.

Good. The quality of your commenters has steadily gone downhill. The same thing happened to Mencius Moldbug. He used to have high quality commenters that contributed as much insight as he did, but now it's a bunch of bitter hangers-on who scare everyone else away.

Will this blog stay up? Will there be an archive available for download? Goddamn, this is sad.

Thank you for all of the effort that went into this blog. I learned a lot. Thanks to you I have "Class: A Guide Through the American Status System" by Paul Fussell on my list of books to read. Any other last recommendations?

You provided a genuine service to the world with no real compensation for yourself. You were mocked for your blindspots (seeing everything through a NYC lens) and insufficiently lauded for your strengths (seeing everything through a NYC lens)

Your readership supported you for several years. None of your older blogs had the success of Half Sigma. An explanation is appropriate and would provide better closure than nothing.

"Nothing he writes will ever be taken seriously, ever, by anyone who matters if he is also writing "racist" things."

Then, in this ostensible Land of the Free
YOU are now in the netherworld predicament
As if Leonardo & Galileo LOST
And those that proclaim the lie of Flat Earth
Have won

Enjoy your 1984 world, with PC Heresy triumphant

"We failed. If we can't even handle pressure online how are we gonna make inroads irl? Blogging is dead. Firepower was right."

Why do we want to make inroads? I'm not out to convert anyone. I enjoy being one of the few who knows the truth about HBD. It's cozy having our own little secret society in a dark corner of the web.

HS also need to stop blogging about proles and their low brow tastes. Most of us here know already that SWPLs and Proles celebrate different holidays (Prole X'mas is different from SWPL X'mas).

The secret is out, and only a select few should know the difference between a SWPL and a Prole.

And no, it's not about money. That's how non-HBD aware SWPLs distinguish themselves from Proles, which is not correct.

The Legendary Linda wrote:

No offense, but that's a girlish assumption.

Inroads make culture - society. To the victor go the spoils. Look around you.

If you want to live in the dark, you'll be as successful as The Whigs.

I have been reading your blog for several years and have always enjoyed it. If your post is serious (and I am not sure it is), you will be missed.

p.s. A few hours ago you solicited advice about big HBD stories of the year. Well, I guess this is one of them.

p.s.s. If you are bowing to PC, why did you make the top weblink on your new blog to Derb?

p.s.s. What really happened?

If you are going to take the subject of biodiversity seriously, you need to involve more molecular genetics than this blog has done. I assume there was some drama that precipitated this.

@dbp:

"I think this is a good move. HBD has gotten stale. Not that there aren't good points, it is just that they have all been made."

Are you serious? That's like thinking it's time to close the patent office. Come take a look at my blog, or visit some of the others on the forefront (West Hunter, Evo and Proud, HBD Chick, Razib's Gene Expression) if you think we've gotten all the answers...

"Is this a serious post?"

It's hard to tell with him.

But not commenting on HBD wouldn't change the content of Sigma's blogging radically because he covers an array of other topics that aren't as controversial.

Oh well, I will see you at the other blog, with your position on HBD discussion in mind.

However, I make no promises about pubic hairs...

What exactly did everyone expect?

HS is a very sad man. That's why he even has a blog.

This doesn't sound like a very good idea, if only for the reason that anyone who objects to your current blog will also object to your new blog (and you've connected the two by linking to the new blog). In addition, if you ever became popular then some hater would look back and find that you'd been writing this old blog and that you're an eeeevil racist who believes in science and not PC dogma. This would destroy your new blogging career.

[HS: People are lazy, and halfsigma.com can be decomissioned. I'm sure going to miss being able to edit people's comments: Blogger doesn't let you do that.]

You should keep this site alive to continue to garner google search traffic and not allow links to here to go dead.

Maybe a new URL will let you get some Adwords revenue again.

Also maybe give someone else the keys to the site who is willin to pay the godaddy 80 a year in hosting and domain charges.

"People are lazy, and halfsigma.com can be decomissioned"

If you have to close, could you please keep up the site as an archive? There have been a lot of great of posts here.

I'll definitely miss ya, Siggie.

Your blog is the first one I stumbled across in the HBD/alt-right-sphere. I found out about Sailer, Derbyshire etc. through you.

This blog is outstanding. You cover HBD topics in a mature and balanced way without sounding bitter or overly sentimental.

Running your blog has probably been a crapload of thankless work, too.

Are you moderating comments over there? My posts won't show up.

[HS: Yes, but I don't see any unmoderated comments in the queue. I hope something isn't broken.]

In this culture of PC run amok, telling the truth about the relationship of race and intelligence can put heat on those who speak their mind. Look at the reception Watson received for speaking his informed opinion on the subject.

If a Nobel laureate (in the hard sciences, not the useless fluff peace prize) who helped discover DNA can find the PC mob at the door with their torches and pitchforks, think of the challenge for the rest of us.

I guess another person asking "why?" will not make a difference, but why?

What makes this blog rather interesting is that an array of subjects are analyzed through the lense of HBD. While I'm one of the very few left-wingers, I did appreciate the perspectives found on this blog.

You'll also miss out on your favorite segment: " Half Sigma was right," where you post links to predictions and earlier comments.

Good call. Along with isteve, your blog is one of two blogs I have visited daily over the past year. I'll miss it, but more and more I think this sort of thing a dead end. I need to stop reading it as much as you need to stop writing it.

Good luck.

"Why do we want to make inroads?"

I think we have made inroads with mainstream pundits. Sigma, Sailer and Roissy have all had their ideas presented (in watered down ways) by mainstream pundits. Sigma and Sailer have definitely had some of their points swiped by NY Times editorialists.

PS: Sigma, how the heck do you comment on your other site?

Your new blog has a a link to Derbyshire and Steve Sailor. Won't that make it non-PC and HBD related?

Are you going to keep the stuff about post-Marxism and social class? Are proles going to be discussed?

That's when you are at your best.

You will be missed Half Sigma.

----

I wonder if Ilkka Kokkarinen will ever restart blogging. He was a Canadian professor who blogged about HBD (sometimes) using his real name, which got him into some hot water.

Well, thanks for linking to your new blog. I enjoyed read your original thoughts on a variety of topics.

Clearly, HS intends to delete this blog sometime soon, based on his comments. Whoever has the means, please archive and mirror everything here.

"If you are going to take the subject of biodiversity seriously, you need to involve more molecular genetics than this blog has done."

That's really unnecessary for proving genetic racial differences. Who talks about molecular genetics when it comes to public policy?

I think he finally found a nice wasp girlfriend.

Enough said.

Can I still call you Siggy on your new blog =D

The new site is not going to stick on the top of my head like this one does. Unless google can read my mind and direct me there when I search this site. Either way. goodluck with the new start, hope nothing bad happened to make to you start again. On to 2013 we go.

[HS: People are lazy, and halfsigma.com can be decomissioned. I'm sure going to miss being able to edit people's comments: Blogger doesn't let you do that.]

For this reason, and because your new URL will be difficult to remember, you should reconsider. If you don't want a link to your IRL ID, just go back and delete or modify anything biographical, and take down your older blogs with your name. I actually used google newsgroup's delete feature to scrub my dumb teenage usenet posts under my real name. It was pretty fun to go back and read 100's of posts for the last time.

Bummed to read this. Thanks for the great posts and insights. Feel free to change you mind back.

Thanks Half Sigma, I learnt a lot about HBD and America and Americans and Jews and Jewish thought and feelings which would otherwise have been closed to me as I live in an Anglo town in Australia. YOur frankness attracted a cluster of similar minded commentators.

You seem to believe that you only get one go around, so for 2013, take some reasoned chances, nothing ventured nothing gained.

Will you be closing this website down as well?

T, get it ( Class: A Guide Through the American Status System" by Paul Fussell ) second hand from Amazon or the library, I'm reading it now because of this blog and it's worth it.

Thanks for the blog man. I appreciated reading it and the commentary. This actually has a quality of innocence about it compared to other alt-right blogs that I read, which is why I liked it.

I have enjoyed reading this blog for a number of years now. Thanks for all your posts.

I have taken a look at your new blog. I think I understand why you decided to move forward with a new blog. I hope it works. I will keep reading your stuff over there.

Is that why some of your old posts are missing?

Anyway, I think you're interesting minus the HBD. You could use a catchier name though (for the new blog). I can't possibly memorize "xverumi." Blech.

What was the meaning of "half sigma" (the name) anyway?

Uh oh. Have you been SixteenVoltsed?

This completely puzzles me.

Three short remarks:

1] If your objective is to get ahead in life through blogging, I'd say in all friendship, get another objective. I don't know anybody who got a job or got rich "from scratch" thanks to a blog, unless the somebody attracted more than 1 million views a month, or had already some diplomas to put on the scene. Advertising does not pay so well. I know it; I work in web advertising. You will never get rich through xverumi, independently of the quality of this blog. There's simply not enough audience and not enough money interested by elitist blogs on movies and American culture. Sorry to drop a "sacrilege" name --- as they are quite anti-Jew --- but Counter-Currents already does that and they are at pain to find advertisers. They do some dough through Amazon commissions and fundraising, I doubt you will be able to do the same thing.

2] You won't be able to maintain your new blog for very long without mentioning HBD. Try it, you will see. Everything is political, everything is ideological, you just don't know it yet because you haven't tried to be neutral yet. The reason other bloggers don't mention HBD is simply because they are stupid, not because they try to be neutral.

3] For Christ's sake --- or, for Hashem's sake if you prefer --- will HBD be recognized one day as true, or not? At least during the coming century? And if it does, wouldn't you like to be known as "the visionary guy"?

Please reconsider.

I have another option for you: create a new blog, from scratch, with a new, handsomer design and a new history.

But continue to blog about HBD. Blog more about culture if you want, but continue to drop some HBD elements.

You will gain nothing by becoming "normal".

Was it the idiot level intelligence of too many of the commentators?

[HS: People are lazy, and halfsigma.com can be decomissioned. I'm sure going to miss being able to edit people's comments: Blogger doesn't let you do that.]

This must be a feature instead of a bug. Why switch to blogger?

You're going to find that escaping the legacy of HS will be harder than you think. Everything here has probably been archived multiple times, and it's only going to get easier to find it in the future. We already have the wayback machine, no doubt we will end up having something that works as well as google on historical websites. The only way to truly escape the legacy of HS would be to start a new blog without mentioning or confirming any link to HS (you can't be the only New Yorker stuck with a useless law degree so you would have plausible deniability).

You will be missed HS. I stumbled upon your "why a career in computer programming sucks" and found a goldmine. Your blog has introduced me to a lot of new ideas and really changed my way of looking at the world (although I don't mind my career in computer programming, it all depends how you handle it.) Thanks!

I suspect it is about a new girl in HS's life. What SWPL woman in NYC would give him permission for his preferred topics?

This is why it is too much for women to have political power and affirmative action. They already have overwhelming power the natural way.

"You're going to find that escaping the legacy of HS will be harder than you think. This is the absolute truth. I have an old blog that I wrote at for many years. I want to start a new blog for my professional life (and because I like to write occasionally) but I don't want to connect the two. And so I never link between the two. Ever. Even that won't necessarily maintain deniability though because you can figure out if certain websites are hosted on the same machine ... Not to mention that Google surely knows who you are regardless.

You're not much of a marketing maven, are you?
What a waste of a strong brand...

[HS: A brand equivalent to the Ford Pinto.]

I regard what you've done here as a public service. I suspect there's more that has happened behind the scenes to precipitate your wanting to quit this. Being outed as a "racist" cannot be pleasant in this crazy age. You may well think that you've said all there is to say about HBD (several times over). Maybe, but to those poor brainwashed souls that always experienced the cognitive dissonance that comes from what the Cathedral puts out about race and equality, vs their real life experience, this place was one of the few that confirmed for them, possibly even for the first time, that the emperor had no clothes, and maybe they, in their turn, opened someone else's eyes to reality, etc, etc.

The only way sanity ever prevails will be if it becomes okay for people to utter truths about HBD, and the only way that happens starts in places where they won't get shouted down, and where they'll realize that they're not crazy or evil for recognizing simple, obvious truth.

Anyway, much like one might say to a soldier... Thanks for your service. I hope you'll one day reconsider.

[HS: You should continue to read the new blog, and the benefit here is that you can safely link to it and tell your friends to read it, and there won't be anything overtly "racist" in there.]

What good is it when you blog about HBD in a country where 99% of its citizens are either too ignorant to understand it or simply apathetic?

Occupy Wall St's motto "we are the 99%" says it all. And does anyone know why this movement failed with utter disgrace? A gathering of SPWLs, Proles and NAMs defies all human logic of a productive society.

Delete Whiskey's stupid rants too.

Since you're undergoing this transformation, perhaps you'll stop blogging against guns too.

Awww... I visit this blog every day. I didn't even know what HBD was until I stumbled across this blog. This is very unfortunate news...

A couple of months back HS claimed that he was going to stop using "NAM" because someone convinced him that it sounded too much like a racial slur, and he didn't want to do anything to give HBD a bad name.

This is all so transparent. That "someone" was obviously a girlfriend that HS is getting serious about, and it looks like this blog was something that they had a BIG TALK about over the Christmas break. She probably gave him a bunch of crap about how smart and interesting he is and how she knows what a kind and decent man he is at his core and how some of the language used on this blog and the commenters it attracts aren't representative of who he really is, what he really believes, etc. The new blog is the result.

As someone with a wife who isn't very HBD-friendly, I can understand.

You will be missed, but the truth remains. Thanks for all the hard work over the years. Keep fighting the good fight, even if you have to mince your words.

Such a pity. This blog was the high point of my nights during those awful overnight shifts.

I always thought somebody had to do the kosher HBD thing. Well, you've got Jewamongyou, I guess.

Girl or security breach? Well, he'll never tell us, either way it would be a bad idea. But I wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavors...

I'm sorry that it has come to this, and I hope that your career isn't at risk from anything you've posted here. Good luck with your new blog.

@ Robert

Good observation. Half Sigma jumped the shark when he stopped using the phrase "NAM". I said it was the beginning of the end and I was right (seen enough decline to know the signs).

If HS keeps his blog, nothing will change nor improve.

If he deletes it - same thing.

Is that not significant - to you smart people?

I was always told by my elders, too much of a good thing is not good for you.

Daily, I could count on a quick review of Half Sigma to give me a good feeling and different outlook on life. Never thought it would end.

All good things must come to an end. Or is it, a new beginning?

"Girl or security breach? Well, he'll never tell us, either way it would be a bad idea. But I wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavors..."

Girl ? lol that's a good one. Anyway I'll miss the Jew. On another note does anyone know what happened to OneSTDv ?

H-bd still has a life. Unfortunately for the U.S.A., the only h-bd'ers who will be able to speak the truth and get away with it will be East Asians, South Asians, and their devotees (mostly their devotees, since Asians don't tend to believe in putting stuff out in the open).

There might be a small number of elitist blacks and Hispanics, and their devotees (and I would count myself as one of them, though sadly this group is small), who will push h-bd.

Also, I believe that a major branch of h-bd that will rise (and be most popular amongst Asians and other "model minorities"), is the one devoted towards pointing out the biological problems of Anglo-Celtic people, most especially their inability to hold their liquor/drugs. I believe that this is one factor that put George Vaillant, a leftie academic (though white, I think he may be at least part Jewish), in the h-bd realist camp. Vaillant bashed Anglo-Celtic culture (though in typical academese) in _The Natural History of Alcoholism_ (1983/1995, Harvard).

Your new blogroll is an HBD blogroll. I don't think you will be able to escape writing on this subject.

[HS: I've blogrolled those who have blogrolled me and sent me traffic.]
